We recently connected with Kefas Brand and have shared our conversation below.
Kefas, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing my confidence and self-esteem has been a continuous journey for me. Growing up as a shy and introverted kid, I found joy in performing. When I started acting, I realized it wasn’t just about playing a role; it was about believing in myself and my abilities.
Confidence and self-esteem blossomed for me through calculated risks and confronting my fears, stepping outside of my comfort zone. With every role I embraced, I learned to trust my instincts, gradually recognizing that I was capable of more than I had ever believed.
My family and friends have been immense sources of support and encouragement throughout this process. Their unwavering belief in me often shone brightest during moments when I struggled with my self-worth. Additionally, the entertainment industry has been a battleground where I’ve faced rejection and criticism, teaching me resilience and helping me cultivate a thicker skin and a robust mindset.
Today, as a young actor from Uganda, I take great pride in representing my country and culture on the global stage. I’ve come to understand that my uniqueness is my strength, fueling my confidence in what I can contribute.
To anyone out there grappling with confidence and self-esteem issues, remember that starting small is perfectly fine. Take one step at a time and concentrate on your strengths rather than fixating on weaknesses. And never forget, you are not alone; there are people ready to cheer for you and witness your success.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a young actor and model from Uganda, my passion lies in telling stories that reflect the beauty and diversity of African culture. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate on various projects, including film, television, theater, commercials, and fashion campaigns.
The most exhilarating aspect of my work is the opportunity to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Acting enables me to tap into my creativity, explore different characters, and portray people’s stories authentically and meaningfully.
As a model, I cherish the creative journey of collaborating with photographers, stylists, and designers to transform concepts into reality. I feel proud to be part of a new generation of African models who are redefining beauty and challenging traditional standards.
Moreover, I am excited to be part of a movement of African artists pushing the limits of what’s achievable in the entertainment industry. We are not limited to telling stories about Africa; instead, we present African narratives told from an authentic African perspective.
As for what’s next, I’m currently involved in a few stimulating projects that I can’t reveal just yet! However, I’m eager to explore new roles, collaborate with fresh talent, and further extend the possibilities available to African artists in the entertainment realm.
For my fans and supporters, I invite you to follow me on social media to stay updated on my latest projects, gain behind-the-scenes insights, and accompany me on my adventures in this vibrant industry. Let’s connect and celebrate African art and culture together!
Thanks for having me, and I look forward to sharing more of my journey with you!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment, and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey as an actor and model, I believe the three most impactful qualities and skills have been:
1. Resilience and adaptability: The unpredictability and challenges of the entertainment industry can be daunting. Building resilience and adaptability has been vital in helping me navigate these hurdles and remain focused on my aspirations.
2. Creativity and imagination: As an actor, tapping into my creativity is essential for bringing characters and narratives to life. Engaging in training, practice, and experimentation has been integral to my growth as an artist.
3. Self-awareness and authenticity: Understanding my own strengths, weaknesses, and values has been paramount in staying true to myself and my craft. Authenticity fosters trust with audiences, colleagues, and clients alike.
For those at the start of their journey, here’s my advice:
– Develop a growth mindset: Be receptive to learning, taking risks, and seeing challenges as chances for growth.
– Practice consistently: Regular training can sharpen your skills and bolster confidence.
– Stay true to yourself: Authenticity and self-awareness are vital in building credibility.
– Seek mentorship and feedback: Collaborating with experienced professionals can accelerate your learning.
– Take care of yourself: The demands of the industry can be taxing, so it’s crucial to prioritize your physical, mental, and emotional health.
Remember, success in the entertainment industry requires time, effort, and perseverance. Maintain your focus, stay humble, and keep pushing toward your dreams!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past year, my most significant area of growth has come through personal development and self-awareness. Following a breakup with my girlfriend, I found a renewed focus on my career and personal growth. This pivotal experience redirected my energy towards self-improvement and deepened my sense of self-love.
As I traversed this journey, I uncovered capabilities I hadn’t realized I possessed. By declaring my priorities and setting boundaries, I developed a deeper understanding of myself, leading to substantial progress in my professional life.
This growth period has been transformative, nurturing a stronger sense of purpose, resilience, and determination within me. I hold a deep appreciation for the challenges I’ve encountered; they have shaped me and provided invaluable lessons.
